No, not really: Testosterone and cortisol are inversely related. Age, anxiety ; depression can cause cortisol levels to go up. Higher levels are not necessarily due to excess testosterone treatments. Testosterone is an anabolic steroid and causes the buildup of lean muscle mass and strength and cortisol is a catabolic steroid. It does the opposite and is linked to ischemic heart disease due to Insulin resistance.

: True Cushingnoid facial features don't occur in the absence of elevated serum cortisol levels. Some people with moon facies can certainly resemble Cushingnoid facies.  An endocrinologist can validate this statement.

Causes many symptoms: Imbalances of cortisol in the body can cause a number of adverse effects and clinical symptoms. These manifestations depend on the severity of the imbalance and whether cortisol levels are too high or too low. Chronic exposure to excess glucocorticoid like in Cushing's syndrome can cause hypertension, obesity, muscle weakness, bone loss, ophthalmologic findings, etc. Should have further workup.

Any of them: Sweating from overactie thyroid. It could also be from hormonal changes with estrogen or testosterone, and with kidney disease you could have an imbalance of those.

can functional hypothalamic amenorrhoea cause long term imbalance? i had it for 3 years, a 2017 pituitary mri was normal. periods back but irregular with t4, tsh, estrogen, cortisol low normal & progesterone low. is it long term effect or a new issue?

Unlikely: Weight loss, low bp, fatigue etc. It's an unlikely diagnosis. If concerned, see your doctor. Don't get your medical info from friends, tv or particularly the internet.

Increased prolactin: If significant, causea milk production.  A prolactinoma can create headaches and vision canges if large enough.  Elevated cortisol, depending on when it's checked can be due to stress or a couple of other reasons.  It causes, in excess, central weight gain, elevated glucose, skin changes and a few other things.  When and where did u get the labs? Under what circumstances?

i have hypoglycemia for years. i am told it is normally a symptom of something. got cortisol  checked & was ok. what else could it be related to ?

See endocrinologist: I know it is rare, but I have seen 2 very dramatic cases that turned out to be due to small , benign pancreatic insulin- secreting tumors. Anyone else here have any other ideas ?

my doctors think i have cushings as i have 99% of the symptoms, however we feel my quetiapine xl 600mg is lowering my cortisol levels. there is some evidence however its very difficult to prove this officially hopethis links to my previous question?

: Best screening for Cushing's is salivary levels of cortisol at night. If these available in UK.
I would say that 99% of patients I see who seem to have all the symptoms &amp; signs of Cushing's do not have it when tested. Purple stria are one of the most reliable signs.  The only way to see if it is the Quetiapine is to stop it &amp; see-under your Dr's supervision.  Using skin steroids? or supplements?
