Fever not enemy!: First, fever does not need 'to be treated'.  It is a symptom, not a disease. Push lots of fluid so child doesn't dehydrate. If very uncomfortable, then can give something to bring fever down, but don't rush to do that if child acitng fine. Higher body temperature helps fight illness - infection fighting cells work better at higher body temps, and germs don't like higher body temps and die - yeah!

See a physician: Your fever responded well to aspirin. You need to treat the cause of the fever as a temperature of 40 C (104 F) is very high for an adult and indicates a possibly serious infection. See a Dr as soon as possible. Reducing the fever with aspirin or cool baths is mainly for comfort, and doesn't treat or fight the infection. Fever actually help the body fight infection.

Fever: I would add Ibuprofen and then alternate with tylenol (acetaminophen) every two hours until the fever breaks. If after two cycles and there is no improvement then it is time to get urgent help.

: It will be okay. Three years is long enough for the scar to have matured.

Fever: Fever can be scary in a kid. Causes are most likely viral and influenza is the star culprit. My rule is if conservative treatment fails, go back to see your doctor. He or she saw the child at presentation and will have a much better idea of what's going after 72 hours.
