See a physician: Your fever responded well to aspirin. You need to treat the cause of the fever as a temperature of 40 C (104 F) is very high for an adult and indicates a possibly serious infection. See a Dr as soon as possible. Reducing the fever with aspirin or cool baths is mainly for comfort, and doesn't treat or fight the infection. Fever actually help the body fight infection.
