Better see doctor: If it is only pink eye  and only watery discharge then it may be due to allergy   or virus.But if there is greenish yellow discharge from eyes  ,that means infection . Either way  better see the doctor who can decide what do you have and what medicine you need .

Treating conjunctivi: Conjunctivitis can be due to viral infection, in that case it will not produce much in the way of pus or sticky eyelids/eyelashes(this is a sign of bacterial infection). Bacterial infections can be treated with a triple antibiotic eye ointment which is available over ythe counter. Viral infections go away on their own, just wash your eyes with warm water or use saline drops several times/day

Mast Cell Stabilizer: Cromolyn sodium 4%, or Alamast (pemirolast) are both in this category. It must be used on a regular basis to work well, and not just to treat symptoms. Mast cell stabilizers work to avoid getting the symptoms. Understand that you cannot "cure" giant papillary conjunctivitis, but can sometimes control it. You must also wear your lenses less.

Allergic vs viral vs: Depends upon cause of conjunctivitis which just means inflammation of conjunctiva. If allergic, it will resolve once you get away from allergens. If viral, it will go away on its own. If chemical, you need to rinse out chemical. If bacterial, you'll need some antibiotics. Go see your family doc, optometrist or ophthalmologist to determine which is which & get get appropriate treatment.

You can, but...: It's better not to strain the eyes if you don't have to.  Don't stare at the screen for too long, take frequent breaks, and use sterile lubricating tears. Cheers!

At least one week: You should wait until the virus runs it course, this is usually 1 week.  I also suggest that you may want to throw away your old eye makeup and start with a new supply when the conjunctivitis is resolved.

bacterial infections (and herpes infections): antimicrobial eye drops
very important to seek the help of you doctor as untreated herpes infection can lead to blindness!
