Find a therapist : who is trained in EMDR. It is highly effective for PTSD. Y ou do not need to suffer.

PTSD: Certainly eating a well balanced diet will help you feel better overall, but I don't know of any specific foods that will help your anxiety and depression. As you know PTSD is a difficult disorder to treat but can be successfully treated with therapy and medications. 1st, understand it.: Read all you can at trusted professional sites and & in books. Talk to your doctor & if you know folks who have experience with it, see what they have to say. Ptsd has about 3 major factors in it's history; physical, emotional & sexual trauma or any combination of the three. There are 3 major  interventions; counseling (cbt), medication & strong social support systems. Best results use all three.

: Usually it is best to have a thorough history &amp; at least a brief physical exam by a primary care provider to determine this.  It is very common in people who have experienced traumatic situations like accidents, murders, abuse, natural disasters, combat, etc, but with proper Counselling/therapy, sometimes meds, &amp; sometimes prayer, it can be managed.

Specific criteria: Must be met to accurately diagnose ptsd. There are specific hallmarks ; behaviors that experts who treat ptsd regularly cue in to. The psychiatrists who do compensation ; pension evaluations for the department of  veteran's  affairs are experts at diagnosing ptsd. They are also experts at picking up on people who are trying to con the system.

PTSD hints: Some subtle signs might be a generalized numbing to all experiences, and avoidance of stimuli which could remind the person of the traumatizing event(s).  Friends and family might notice that the person "just isn't the same", even though s/he may not be speaking about the event.

Common signs include: Nightmares, trouble sleeping, anxiety, hypervigilance and easily startled, reliving,the traumatic event in your mind, and many more.  It is too complex to really advise because different people have different experiences.  If you suspect you are suffering from PTSD , make an appointment to speak with someone.  It will help you to understand what is,going on inside.

Sometimes.: Exposure therapy and emdr are very effective in reducing or eliminating ptsd symptoms.  Whether symptoms are eliminated or only reduced depends on how severe, complex, prolonged, human caused, and early in life the trauma was.  Torture, prolonged combat or abuse, and trauma that occurs early in life are often the most difficult.   Substance abuse and additional disorders complicate recovery.
