Not advised: Anabolic Steroids may increase your muscle mass but at a cost to your health. Steroids often cause testicular atrophy and impotence with chronic use. Other potential undesirable effects that can occur include mood changes, aggressive behavior, steroid dependency syndrome, gynecomastia, thrombophilia , hypertension, acne, polycythemia among other side effects.

what is the healthiest thing to eat/drink before exercise/competition?

Accepted Answer

Hydrate: Water. You should drink at least a 8 oz glass of water before exercise. You should also be drinking water during exercise especially during endurance events. Lastly, you should rehydrate after exercise. In addition, after high intensity or long endurance events, you should also replace electrolytes and salts.

See below: It is really impossible to outline a program here without knowing you. See your doctor first to make sure there are no barriers to competing or precautions that need to be taken. Then probably work with a personal trainer who can design a routine for you.

iv got a 3.5 cm grade 2 tear of my soleus  with a full time physio how long can i expect to be back in full competition cheers?

Prolonged PT: This is a significant injury. I would expect that you will be non weight bearing on that foot and leg for a least 6 - 8 weeks
physical therapy would be vital during that time. 
A return to "full competions" would require to type of competion. If running and jumping were involved, i would estimate a minimum of three months off competion.

i hurt my neck on sunday, i need to know wether i hurt the muscle or bone. i am competing in a crossfit competition on friday?

Examination: Taking a full history of the type of injury and examining the neck will be needed to answer this question - so will need to see a doctor in person and if uncertain tests such as X-ray may need to be consider.  If you have fallen or been involved in a motor vehicle accident need to see a doctor immediately to have bony injury (fracture) excluded.  All the best.

i'm training judo and i had problems with my  stomach. so what food to eat 1 day before a competition and on the next day just before a warm up?

Accepted Answer

A guess: Carb up the day before the match & eat light before the warm up with foods that don't upset your stomach (when ii used to wrestle we'd starve ourselfs to make weight and then chow down after the weigh in so we'd be as much as 15 lbs heavier by match time (mostly rehydration) which wasn't the greatest health-wise!

should you hold back your kids to get a leg up on the competition for college scholarships?

No: Can you please clarify is this sports related scholarship or an academic one? Either way holding one back for this reason alone does not seem like a good idea. I would include my child in this decision as the child is the one who ultimately pays the price. The stress may not be worth it especially to the child. I assume  we are discussing a teenager in this question...

i think i tore my hamstring muscle.  i am not sure what to do about it.  do i need to not work out or would working out help it? i am 41.  my son  and i had a stupied competion last night who could do the splits.  as i went down stretching very minimal my

I : I wont recommend doing heavy exercise as u recently had a possible muscle/tendon injury and may worsen the condition.You need to be checked by the orthopedics to rule out tendon tear.He will possible send you for MRI if necessary

competitive dancer. how can i work around my period? cant be on it for competition. no way. cant dance as well, not alright. what can i do

See your GYN: Consider taking birth control pills which can lighten and delay your period depending on when you start them. You can definitely control when your period happens and you should so that you can live the life you want. Pills are safe as long as you're not smoking/obese/older than the age of 35.
