: CT scan is not the best test to rule out colon cancer. A colonoscopy is the optimum way to screen for colon cancer.

Several causes: Cancer, stercoral ulcer (hard stool which erodes through the bowel, obstruction (a blocked colon will usually perforate at the right side [cecum], )trauma, ulcerative colitis, and toxic megacolon associated with clostridia difficile infection, are all possible causes of colon perforation.

No: Colon cancer does not cause diverticulitis.  But you can develop diverticulitis independently while having colon cancer.

Dietary Modification: People with diverticulosis need to drink plent of water every day, eat high fiber foods, take a fiber supplement, avoid foods like nuts and seeds.

No, probably not: A good idea.  While you have active diverticulitis, it is important to rest the area while the infection heals.  If you apply any excess pressure, as with irrigation, the inflamed area can perforate into the peritoneal cavity and cause fecal peritonitis.  That goes for enemas too.

How do you know?: To help with that question, how much of the colon was removed, which portions are left, and how are they "put together"?  How do you know they have diverticulitis?  The best answer to this is to make an appontment with your doctor, otherwise the standard avoidance of nuts, seeds, and popcorn is appropriate but more specific data should be gotten from your personal physician.

follow up sigmoid coscopy after diverticulitis  showed stricture in the colon.is it possible to be treated with out surgery if it's not bothering me?

No: Stricture formed from scar tissue after the diverticulitis.  If it isnt bothering you and stool is passing through ok, then no treatment needed but watchful waiting.  If you start to develop blockage, then it is a surgical procedure, either with colonoscopy and dilation or surgical incision to widen.  Be aware that further diverticular episodes can worsen stricture and lead to blockage eventually

was given a scope test in colon area. it showed a stricture from earlier surgery 4  diver. do i need another test to find diverticulitis in same area?

More info helpful: A ct scan is very useful in diagnosing diverticulitis, without needing to undergo colonoscopy. Indeed, there are relative contraindications to performing colonoscopy when diverticulitis is active. Info that would be helpful in formulating a complete answer: 1) how long ago was your colonoscopy?  2) what symptoms are you experiencing?  3) what recommendations did you receive regarding stricture?
