No: Colon cancer does not cause diverticulitis. But you can develop diverticulitis independently while having colon cancer.

No: Two separate diseases, but they can present the same way. Diverticulitis does not cause cancer and cancer does not cause diverticulitis. Any patient seen and treated for diverticulitis should be treated and then screened for cancer with a colonoscopy.
