Bummer! : When you say "colon" are you referring to the anal sphincter area or the abdomen, because those are different issues. If you were (or are chronically) constipated, you may suffer from hemorrhoids &amp;/or anal fissures. The force of the enema could traumatize them. For belly pain, rest those intestines. Hydrate, stick to clears (jello, soup) &amp; work up to toast/crackers as tolerated &amp; tell your doctor.

: A simple "flat plate x-ray" of the abdomen gives some limited information, The more specific information desired the more involved the study will be. If you are trying to get clear and dependable information that will exclude the "bad stuff" you must have the added detail found in more invasive studies.

They may be addressing residual Barium contrast remaining in descending colon on post evacuation film, which is of no clinical significance

Saline enemas: I know of no evidence that saline enemas are either cleansing or healthy. I recommend you go to UpToDate and look it up.

Many side effects: It is believed by MD who do Alternate Medicin that colon cleansing improves health by removing toxins, boosting your energy and enhancing your immune system. However, there's no evidence that colon cleansing produces these effects.
Coffee enemas sometimes used in colon cleansing have been linked to several deaths. 
 Other potential concerns :
Dehydration
Perforation
Infection
 Electrolyte imbalanc

Usually Not: The purpose of treatment of colitis and lead pipe colon is to diminish inflammation and prevent further damage. This appearance of the colon usually means multiple previous episodes of acute colitis and scarring of the tissues.

Perhaps the opposite: Perhaps your colon is so large and long because you have been constipated.  Lots of water, bulk in your stool (raw fruits and veggies) high fiber and exercise  are the tools for improving/resolving constipation.

went to hosp last night said slight blockage in colon sent me home.  today extreme pain used enema. why didn't they can i use milk mg too? confused.

Follow up w/doctor: It is very difficult to determine why you're having this extreme pain without examining you. I do recommend that you follow up here with the doctor that saw you in the emergency room, with your primary care doctor as soon as possible. If your pain continues to get worse than you do need to return to the ER.
