Depends: If you want to take a supplement to regulate your bowels, I would recommend plant fiber over coconut oil.  As you mentioned, there are conflicting reports on health benefits.  In some ways, the benefits of coconut oil were over-hyped. There was a craze where people were using it for EVERYTHING! Now that the initial craze is over, there's not so much hype (as is the case with most diet fads).

Insufficient info: Risk of heart disease depends on heredity, weight, smoking, diabetes, exercise, lipid levels and more. It would be prudent to consult your doctor for an evaluation of all these issues. It would be good to avoid saturated fats.

ldl and total cholesterol has changed 25 points in 4 months to 223. hdl at 68 and tri are normal and haven't changed. no weight change or lifestyle/diet change. tsh has remained elevated with tpo neg (hovering around 7.0) realized i've added coconut milk

Doubt relationship: You're clearly interested in promoting your health. That's awsome. These blood levels actually fluctuate wildly even from day to day though this fact isn't well-publicized. How about getting into tome really hard-core aerobic fitness stuff while you're young and healthy -- it would be a wonderful gift to yourself. Best wishes.

i started applying organic coconut oil as nighttime cream all over face. will  it break me out (i have clear skin) or should i apply then wash it off?

Coconut oil: Why are you doing this? what kind of skin issues do you have? are there other medications or products you apply to the skin. The general rule is that if you leave a cream on the skin too long, it may block the hair follicles and sebaceous glands and cause acne breakout.

Cholesterol: Usually a low cholesterol diet is use  with regular exercise as a first line treatment for hypercholesterolemia, if after 6 months your levels are the same or highertroutr primary doctor will decide to put you in one of the cholesterol binding drugs.
