Not sure: Have you had previous reaction to latex, or local anaesthetic?  Could be a reaction to the manipulation of your lip during the procedure.   Don't think you need an antibiotic.  Return to your dentist for an evaluation.

Yes: Amoxicillin , Keflex , Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate)  ceclore  are all good for dental infections.

do you think it is a very low dosage, wrong to be taken in 2 doses only? would it be effective as prescribed?

Antibiotics: Please do not concern yourself with "milligrams". Each medication needs a different dose. As long as the amount of medication in your bloodstream is high enough over a 24 period to be effective, the dosage and frequency is irrelevant. Your dentist has deemed this dosage appropriate and is based on his/her experience and training.

i have been prescribed with clindamycin 300mg and ibuprofen 800mg for a severe tooth infection but as i took my first pill of the day, my face and lip area and started to swell up but no pain had occurred. is this a sign of allergy?

: Yes, stop both medications although Clindamycin is likely the offender especially you took Ibuprofen OTC without problem in the past. Call the dentist for a different antibiotic if you have no problem with Ibuprofen in the past.

have noticed in past 10 years or so that w/in few days of finishing a course of antibiotics, i tend to develop a rash on neck and upper chest. has happened 2x w/doxycycline & now w/clindamycin, tho not as severe as doxy rash. is this an allergy?

Probably not: Probably a coincidence. It is rare, if ever, that an allergic drug rash would start after the drug is stopped, especially "a few days" later. With both clindamycin and doxycycline, the drug is gone from the system within a few days of the last dose. Discuss with your doctor, and grease the skids for an immediate visit if it happens again, so she can examine the rash. In meantime, I wouldn't worry.

Not recommended: The standard for strep is the penicillin class, then 1st generation cephalosporins, not the Cipro (ciprofloxacin) class.

Clindamycin: There is no single best drug effective for every staph infection in every patient.  Clindamycin is usually effective, but not in every case.  Some penicillins sometimes work, vancomycin usually works.  There are other choices, but the bottom line is that the drug selected should be selected based on the use of culture and sensitivity reports.
