i see everywhere online you should be drinking more water!! and that the average amt of water a female needs is around 92 oz. i like drinking water, but i usually only drink about 24oz a day and my urine is always clear. should i drink more often?

Accepted Answer

: Unless you are working exercising in heat and sweating a lot just drink when you are thirsty. No research suggests drinking more improves health. Search pubmed.gov for research articles.

i went from drinking tons of soda to none at all, and drinking water instructed by my dentist. my urine is clear and i'm peeing more. is this normal?

Yes, this is normal: The more water you drink the more you will pee.  Peeing is one way that our body flushes out toxins.  Within reason the more water you drink the better your body can do this.  Your urine is clear now because any toxins are more diluted and you probably  have less of them as you have eliminated soda.

Dark urine: Fi you drink a lot of water in the daytime and very little late evening or before you go to bed, you may have dark urine in the morning. The fact that it clears up when you drink water, is suggestive that you do not have jaundice. If you are concerned however, talk to your doctor.

See hematologist: Dark or reddish-brown urine is often an early symptom of an Acute intermittent porphyria, a condition from abnormal breakdown of red blood cells from enzyme defect.It may be mistaken for hematuria [blood in the urine] The abnormal color is due to accumulation of pigments called porphyrins and/or porphobilin in the urine. The abnormal urine coloration may lessen or return to normal between attacks.

im am having some left kidney pain and i have been drinking water i took azo but this didnt change the color of my urine. my urine is clear should i go to the er? my pain is a 2-3 discomfort. is clear pee like water ok?

: Are you certain that the pain is coming from the.left kidney? If there's a complete blockage in the left ureter by a stone or other cause, your urine from the right kidney can be clear. In this case, an ultrasound or renal CT scan would be diagnostic. You're not experiencing severe pain, but instead of waiting to see your MD next Monday, you may want to get prompt attention in the ER.

: Your albumin level suggests that you are dehydrated that that would explain the urine color. You should drink enough water daily so that your urine is mostly colorless.

: Sometimes your body requires more fluids, especially if you are more active, sweating, etc. so your body will keep more fluid in and your urine will decrease. Does your urine look darker? If so, you need to increase your fluid intake. If this continues despite increasing your fluid intake, then see your doctor to have it checked. Best of luck to you!

Meds & supplements?: If you are not taking any medications or supplements / herbals / protein, then you should be evaluated by a nephrologist. If any of the above, they may be contributing to elevated sg (via elimination in urine).

Why need help?: Urine will be more concentrated ; thus have stronger odor if total fluid intake is less. Water is best beverage to  dilute urine ; thus make less smelly, however tea or soup for instance can also supply sufficient fluid.
