Many: Papular urticaria, as it is called, is what is typically seen from bites by mosquitos, spiders, etc. Usually reactions to the saliva trigger itching, redness and a small bump that resolves in a couple days. Bigger reactions (redness, tenderness), can mean infection; circular rings around the bite may also raise concerns of tick bites leading to Lyme disease; early treatment is very effective.

No particular bug: Bug bites are rarely unique to a specific insect.  Flea bites are small and have little clear vesicles and extreme itching but this is not unique to fleas either. This lesion could be a sting or a bite, it is impossible to say. Watch for signs of infection: pus, increasing pain, redness &amp; see doc if that happens. If numbness, tingling or severe pain,or fever, head to the ER. Tetanus shots current?

See doctor: If you live in an area known to have Lyme disease problem, best to consult your doctor to get treated for it just in case.

No treatment: If the rash is asymptomatic except that it is there, you really don't need to treat it. Thee are many things that come to mind after wading around in a swampy area - something obviously irritated the skin. However, if it's not bothering you (no itch, burn, etc), no need to put anything on it. Just monitor and see what happens over the next week. If other question, please let us know....

Dirrent appearance: The typical lyme lesion is referred to as a bulls eye lesion. It typically has central redness with clearing arounbd it and then another red rim further out. A regular bug bite is ususally uniformly red with clearing throughout.

: Most bug bites, if it is one, do not leave any diagnostic clues that would allow us to know what it is. Sometimes they form patterns that allow us to speculate, but most look about the same. If you catch the bug in the act, the identification is obvious, but that's the only sure ID.

Depends....: Bug bites can cause different reactions in people depending on what the bug is, how sensitive the person is, whether the person has an allergic reaction to the bug bite and if the person irritates the area by scratching it
If the redness around the bite is large and is warm to touch then it could be infected
Some bug bites can take several weeks to completely go away- topical steroid cream helps

I will only be able: To provide generic info since there isn't really info about the bite. Oral antihistamines can be used for itching. A salve composed of 2 parts baking soda and one part water can help with pain ; itching when placed over the wound.

Accepted Answer

Tx: Apply 2 to 1 mix of baking soda & water to decrease discomfort / reaction. Or try paste of water & meat tenderizer applied directly to the lesions. You can use Benadryl for itching or tylenol (acetaminophen) or nsaid's for pain.
