Depends....: Bug bites can cause different reactions in people depending on what the bug is, how sensitive the person is, whether the person has an allergic reaction to the bug bite and if the person irritates the area by scratching it If the redness around the bite is large and is warm to touch then it could be infected Some bug bites can take several weeks to completely go away- topical steroid cream helps
