Sometimes you can have an infection with a bacteria that is resistant to Cipro (ciprofloxacin).    See your doctor again.  They may do a urine culture to see what bacteria you have and what antibiotics it is sensitive to.

Nausia, vomiting and diarrhea are among the most common side effects.  Allergic reactions occur occasionally.  Rarely elderly or immunocompromised patients can develop tendonitis or tendon rupture especially of the achilles tendon.  C. Difficile colitis can occur.

Definitely the elderly are more at risk. Smoking weed may expose you to combustion products in the lungs- that's not good
