Ciprofloxacin: …is one of the fluoroquinolone family of antibiotics; it is used to treat a variety of infections (uti's, prostatitis, acute bronchitis flares, etc) and to prevent others (traveler's diarrhea, anthrax). Cautions: not for first-line use in under 17 due to effects on cartilage/bone growth; may weaken inflamed tendons; can cause phototoxic reactions.

An antibiotic: Hi. Ciprofloxacin is an antibacterial antibiotic that blocks the bacterial ability to replicate DNA, so the cells can't divide and reproduce. It gets a lot of gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Most common use is for urinary tract infections.
