Patients who had used statins for two years or longer were 40% less likely to develop glaucoma than those who had not.

In the setting of high triglyceride, care should be taken as alcohol intake can worsen triglyceride levels.

Exercise : LDL can be lowered with diet and exercise. At that level, without any other medical problems, nonsmoking, no family members with heart disease, it is not unreasonable to do a trial of diet and exercise, but it will take a lot of work. If you have any other issues or family with heart disease, medication is warranted. Diet should be low carb, exercise should be cardio 4-5x/week.

She should be prepared, should lifestyle changes not be sufficient to reduce cholesterol to safe levels, to make an informed decision about taking, perhaps, a statin that should cost almost nothing.
