Enlarged thyroid: You need to find out why and what is causing your thyroid to get larger.  A thyroid that is causing you to choke is very concerning.  Make an appointment as soon as possible to see a doctor.  This could be caused by lack of iodine to cancer and lots of things in-between.  Do not wait, get it evaluated.

my doctor checked my thyroid and it felt like she was choking me. was she upset with me over my complaints? is it normal to press hard on neck?

Unlikely upset: Most likely your doctor was palpating your thyroid for any nodules or enlargement.  You always should feel confident in telling your physician any complaints and if the exam is uncomfortable.

Unlikely.: Several reasons to have a choking sensation with swallowing.  Not likely from the thyroid.

i have excess phlegm causing choking...i am a diabetic and have several cysts on my thyroid .some are  4 cm  some are 1.7 mm. is this causing phlegm?

Well...: I doubt that it is your thyroid causing this suddenly, and it is possible.
You could have a respiratory infection as well.
Given that you have Diabetes you need prompt attention.

Need to be seen: no OTC medication can be advised without examination, go back to ER or your primary doctor, good luck

i have been diagnosed with one 7mm cyst on my right lobe of the thyroid gland and one of 9mm on the left lobe.  can this cause dizziness and choking?

No: Small thyroid nodules and cysts are common in the general population, especially women over age 40.  These cysts usually have no clinical significance, and are too small to cause any symptoms.  A 9mm cyst is the size of a pea.

my husband has had probs swallowing food&water for a while. he is choking and it is scarring me . he has issue w/ thyroid and on meds .also heartburn?

GERD: Most likely gerd is severe treat aggressively . Follow diet strictly . Must eat slow , chew well, avoid large peaces, don't talk while eating. Must get a GI opinion since has problem swallowing . Not a thyroid related problem.

i have multiple cysts on my thyroid and parotid glands. i have been choking often when i eat. food gets stuck and im unable to eat without drinking water. could this be because of the cysts?

Cysts: Of concern that your are having airway distress. This requires immediate investigation. Please see an ENT (Otolaryngologist) ASAP.

Thyroid: I don't know about inflamed thyroid but hyperthyroidism can cause many symptoms. 
If you have been so diagnosed you are probably not getting enough antithyroid medication.

Please have your doctor refer you to a thyroid surgeon for  evaluation and advice.
