is it normal to feel off or a little lightheaded days after chiropractic adjustment? ive had neck issues for a long time and went because i had pain on one side. that pain has subsided but now im left with residual ache?

: This would depend on what the treatment was and what it was for.   Best to ask the Chiropractor who knows what they did.

had a chiropractic neck adjustment 72 hours ago and have had neck pain and occipital headache on my right side since. went to urgent care and they dx with tension h/a. if i was to have a stroke would it have happened by now?

: Chiropractic high velocity, high amplitude, neck manipulations, in my opinion, are archaic and risky, and  should never be done, and most chiropractors avoid this approach.  In your case, you had an adverse response, unlikely to have developed arterial dissection secondary to your neck treatment, but this could be delayed. Contact your regular physician, and discuss whether Carotid Duplex needed.

does crepitus go away on its own? i foolishly made the choice to see a chiropractor one time. did one neck adjustment. the past week my base of neck cracks if i tilt my head side to side. no pain, just weird. will this go away on its own typically?

: Likely, it will but it may recur.

can a headache be normal after a chiropractic adjustment?

Accepted Answer

: It can be, depending on where the adjustment was done. If the adjustment was made to the back or neck areas, the muscles that connect at the top of your head can be affected, resulting in a headache. Taking acetaminophen or ibuprofen can be helpful as this is a simple tension headache and it should resolve soon. Good luck!

For treating what?: The nih did a study showing the benefit of chiropractic care for acute spinal conditions such as muscular sprains, sciatica and muscle spasm for the first 6 weeks after an injury.  The evidence for massage therapy is more dubious; it increases blood flow and temperature while decreasing CNS outflow, for 45 minutes. Pt has always been shown to be more effective long term.

Caution :  if this is dystonia need to ask your physician to have you see a neurologist. This needs to be clear and certified be cautious with manipulation in this setting

Accepted Answer

Generally avoiding : Sleeping on your stomach and using a relatively single flat pillow.  Sleeping on your back with a pillow beneath your knees or on your side with your knees bent and possibly with a pillow between them are several suggestions.

Accepted Answer

Depends on whether : It was there to begin with ;severity as well if any radiation into limbs as well if associated  with any other neurologic issues like numbness.If symptoms are troublesome ; persisting/worsening, see physician for evaluation.  If resolves, inform chiropractor as to what occurred to avoid any future issues.   You may have a spinal instability or spinal stenosis or a large disc herniation or combo.

is it possible the day after a chiropractic neck adjustment to have a really bad headache?

Accepted Answer

Yes: This can happen after any manual manipulation. It doesn't mean anything was necessarily wrong with the adjustment, but it could have caused a muscle spasm that leads to a headache. If you notice any other symptoms, like slurring of words or one sided weakness, see a physician immediately. With a hx of a spinal fusion though, be very cautious with who you see and how much is done. Hope that helps!
