i have an ulcer in my mouth under my tongue. 
a year ago i had neutropenia (? viral). ebv positive , parvovirus positive and also bilharzia (?false n)  rf and ana were negative then.my esr has remained high for a year - ? cause . are these related ?

Oral ulcer: There are a few possibilities for this combination of symptoms and lab result. Keep working with your doctor, or ask for referral to a rheumatologist (arthritis/immunology specialist). One possibility is called Behcet's disease, and would be especially likely if you are of Mediterranean ancestry (Italian, Turkish, Macedonian, etc). Google Behcet's for more information. Good luck.

See a PCP: The numerous causes of neutropenia can roughly be divided between either problems in the production of the cells by the bone marrow and destruction of the cells elsewhere in the body. Treatment depends on the nature of the cause, and emphasis is placed on the prevention and treatment of infection. Get her properly evaluated.

Cyclic neutropenia: This reminds me of a poorly understood affliction that I don't ever see called cyclic neutropenia. I would send a kid off to see a pediatric hematologist or infectious disease specialist to get confirmation and a plan of action.

A diabetic: Does not have to lead to an ulcer. It is something a person with diabetes must be careful about. Any type of diabetes can get an ulcer. One tends to see it more in a patient with some degree of neuropathy. An ulcer is when one gets a break in the skin and it is usually under a weight bearing surface or over a bony prominence.

Yes: Several organisms cause or contribute to skin ulceration. Pyoderma gangrenosum is one. There are multiple therapies in wound care for difficult chronic ulcers. Okay to ask for referral to wound care center. Take friend with you to appointment. Be Well.

dx: chron's 14 yrs ago. recent blood in stool. scope revealed mild ulceration. seems like too much blood  to be from 2-3 small ulcers in rectum.

Ulcers: If the ulceration just happened to be affecting the blood vessels- yes you can have quite significant bleeding even though the ulcers are not big. You definitely need to be followed regularly by your GI doctor with serial endoscopy.

can daily ppi taken for gerd mask the pain of h.pylori ulcers indefinitely/forever? or real h.pylori ulceration/gastritis becomes more severe/painful over time and non responsive to single ppi dose forcing the person see doc timely for antibiotics.

H pylori: Ppi's alone will not eradicate h pylori. Why not get tested for it by inhalation testing or upper endoscopy?  At your young age,hopefully you won't have to take ppi's forever.

Many things: Anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen, infections like helicobacter pylori, crohn's disease.  

But far more things can upset the stomach without causing ulcers. It depends on the situation.

Same as adults: They get them just like adults do, usually it's the body just reacting to itself.

how are genital ulcers contracted? and can i still have children? what does it mean when they randomly appear i haven't had sex since march

Accepted Answer

Genital ulcers: Or herpes are spread by sexual contact. Once you have been exposed they can reoccur. Taking an antiviral medication is helpful if this is frequent.
