Not necessarily: Although leaking poo is a gross issue, I have not seen an issue of related illness in three decades of following these patients.Their biggest issues seem to come with the sadness of being different until they can gain empowerment thru treatment. Recurrence over many years is common, and sporatic  (viral or other) diarrheal illnesses frustrate everyone involved but long term sucess is possible.

Pica: The condition is called pica.  - when a child eats objects other than food. It is not a symptom of a specific disease but is more commonly seen in children with mental disabilities.   I suggest your child be checked for lead and any developmental disorders.

Stool...: Children can have many types of stool issues. Color can vary but white and red are worrisome. Constipation is commin and kids should receive daily fiber and be well hydrated. Have you spoken to the child's parents about it? Hope they do well.

Varies: You can get many different stool colors with Rotavirus.  One more common color, in my experience, has been a distinct "technicolor green".  As it progresses you can see clear watery stools, yellow stools, and finally brown.  With the advent of the vaccine we hardly ever see Rotavirus these days.

Varies: The color depends on diet and bile output during the illness. I have seen blue poop from blue Popsicles or Gatorade.  They can  be almost clear mucous to brownish water, but very frequently are a beige/creamy white.  The hallmark is the horrible smell that goes along with rotavirus - I can walk in a room and tell a baby in there has the illness.

See below: You must be breast feeding, as yellow mushy stools are seen especially with breast fed infants.  He may stool after every feeding.  Make sure infant is urinating 6-8 times a day or you may need to add some water to his diet..

ive had old blood/mucas in my stool a few times this month. inconsistently though about 1x a week. i'm not sure if it makes any difference but i have been dieting too. i'm in my 20's and havent long had a child (8 months). do i need to be concerned?

: Any abnormal bleeding, including in stool warrants an investigation. If may be as simple as hemorrhoids, but even bleeding hemorrhoids can cause anemia. It would be prudent to see your primary care provider for an initial assessment and to ascertain if a specialist consultation is needed.

shes also having trouble passing stool and gas shes full time on formula. what can i do?

Doctor can examine: Two weeks is a newborn, which means a pediatrician should examine baby. Babies can easily catch infections from other people. If an "older baby" has just a runny nose, without much fussiness, without any high fever, nor other worrisome symptoms, then parents may leave the nose alone. A newborn can have more serious illnesses and not reveal serious signs... which is why an exam is generally done.
