i am experiencing  chest pains when i sleep on my side and there poor ventilation and hot in the room. the pain is not burning or sharp. more like a tight chest. no coughing or phlegm. what could  be the problem?

At least an EKG...: Chest pain in someone 39 years old could be caused by a number of issues but the Heart is a major Concern. Having a Doctor do a through History and Physical including at least an EKG with any other indicated studies; is top priority before attributing the chest pain to ventilation and/or ambient Air temperature as cause. Good idea to see the Doctor sooner than later.

Probably not related: The sequence is important. Smoking  marijuana can irritate the lungs in sensitive individuals and an in say asthmatic  this could persist. This could cause chest tightness. Smoking a small amount of marijuana seven days ago should not cause chest tightness. If your chest tightness started 7 days later they are probably not related.

If you have chest sx: if you have chest tightness associated with the cough, I would advise getting checked out. Chest tightness + cough could be due to worrisome causes or could be benign -- the only safe way to sort it out is through a full evaluation.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor and discuss if you may be depressed. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, exercise may help. Start with low intensity exercise such as walking and gradually increase the intensity as tolerated. Drink more water. Wish you good health!

Other tests commonly used in the diagnosis of asthma include allergy testing and blood oxygen saturation and chest xray.

There are any of: a number of conditions that could be causing your symptoms but the most likely ones are due to your weight. You probably have pulmonary hypertension as this will cause chest pain (tightness) cough and cardiac irritability leading to skipped beats. You may have developed right heart failure as well. You need to get professional help to lose weight or your life expectancy will be severely shortened.
