The schemas of CBT came from object relations psychoanalytic theory 60 years earlier.

We learn to turn up the volume on unconscious thoughts and talk back and change them.  OCD is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, thoughts and behaviors that repeat and interfere w/function or comfort. Social skills group therapy & tutoring for associated learning disabilities are often needed.

With ocd, the person is unconsciously using compulsive behaviors to bind anxiety -- and if prevented, will temporarily feel anxiety.  The therapist will help you through this.

SSRI: Hypochondria belongs to the obsessive thinking disorders,  all included under the  higher anxiety disorder's umbrella. Continue CBT while taking an SSRI, paroxetine,sertraline, fluoxetine , citalopram o escitalopram etc.  . Meds will decrease anxiety and dilute the obsessions.
