i am allergic to ceftin, cipro, macrobid, sulfa, penicillin, floxin and biaxin.  my doctor says i have an uti but she can't prescribe anything because of my allergies.  she says drink lots of water.    isn't there some antibiotic i can take?

Of course: The urine can be cultured to see what bacteria is in there, and which antibiotics can be used. If needed, an allergist can check for true allergies to antibiotics, and help select the safest one to use. If UTI symptoms are slight and they go away without antibiotics, that's ok... as long as a patient does close follow-up to check for recurrences or other bladder, kidney, vulvo-vaginal issues.

Yes: Metronidazole can cause peripheral neuropathy usually after multiple short courses or a very long course.   It can be reversible but may take a long time to resolve.  I have seen cases that were irreversible.  Quinolone antibiotics are not known to cause peripheral neuropathy.

Not a side effect: Ofloxacin is not known to cause hair loss.  Look for other causes like hypothyroidism.

: I think those symptoms would be more likely caused by ear pathology rather than these medications. Your physician or an ENT specialist can advise you best.

: All those symptoms were reportedly uncommon side effects of Ofloxacin otic (ear drops), not because your eardrum is perforated. This drop is also used to treat otitis media as well. The side effects will resolve by time.

having recurrent fungal ear infections since 2/2021. i go to the ent every time. given acetic drops/ ofloxacin/antibios each time. now i have chronic sinusitis, is this the cause? can recurrent infections cause complications like meningitis? scared.?

: I've never seen it, but chronic untreated sinusitis can cause meningitis. You should be in good hands as you're being treated and followed by an ENT specialist. However I recommend having a complete medical examination including appropriate lab work because of your recurrent fungal infections and chronic sinusitis.

Duplicate therapy: Both have the same mechanism of action.  Do not take together unless prescribed by your doctor.  In this case, i can't think of a reason to use both medications concurrently.

if 2 weeks of ofloxacin is enough to cure epididymitis. could the feeling i still have slowly disappear without any further treatment?

Yes, ...: A 2-week course of antibiotics will cure most of infection-related epididymitis if sensitive. But resolution ache and induration will take time, but in a highly variable duration and occasionally, complete disappearance of both may linger or be impossible. So, wait and see; let your body do the job and time tell the story of you.
