Yes: Metronidazole can cause peripheral neuropathy usually after multiple short courses or a very long course. It can be reversible but may take a long time to resolve. I have seen cases that were irreversible. Quinolone antibiotics are not known to cause peripheral neuropathy.

Nonetheless, if you’re experiencing symptoms of peripheral neuropathy, such as pain, burning, numbness, tingling, or weakness in the hands, arms, legs, or feet, then it’s worth letting your doctor know.
