what if my gauze packing comes out of wound?

Replace: The gauze packing with clean gauze.  Although there are better products than plain gauze for packing a wound, if your health provider recommended gauze, it should be changed about every 12 hours to help prevent bacteria growth and possible wound infection.

had another abd abscess clean out and once again my packing gauze has a very prominent dark green with bright blue drainage, what could cause this?

Hard to say: But certain bacteria, like pseudomonas, can create blue pigmented drainage, so you should review this with the doctor managing your wound.  But it's also possible that a chemical being used to help with wound care, being applied topically, could be causing this color too.

i am trying to remove dry socket packing but can't see the gauze. is it possible that it came out on its own? how do i find it? doc said he left a tag

2 days: While resorbable packings are often used that don't have to be removed, gauze soaked with the appropriate medication is intended to be changed after 24 to 48 hours. Check with your dentist for their advice if you can't be seen again in that interval.

i have a very small lanced boil that i've been re-packing with gauze daily. would it hurt to leave gauze in for 2 days just once or better to leave ou?

Leave it out: You can irrigate with 1/4 t salt in 1 cup of water instead  if that is possible.

molar removed, got dry socket and had packing out in. six days after being packed i am wondering if i leave the brown gauze in the socket or remove it?

Your dentist should: Have given you these directions for how they wanted you to treat this.  Did they give you any home instructions?  If not i would suggest you call the office and ask for their preference.
(it might be ok at this point, but different dentist have different protocols that they like to follow.) it is best to keep the socket moist.

i have a abscess in left breast i had drained and now have to pack with gauze twice a day. how long till it should heal and no longer have to pack?

That depends: It depends on the size of te abscess and how well the infection is clearing.  I would say 1-2 weeks would be fairly typical.

Doubtful: There would be no reason for an oral surgeon to place a dressing in your extraction site to promote more bleeding. If you have a problem following an extraction, call the office that extracted the tooth for further assistance.

Wisdom tooth: A dry socket occurs when the blood clot is lost after tooth extraction leaving the bone and nerve exposed.  This can be due to infection,nicotine,sucking through a straw or certain hormones such as oral contraceptives.  The treatment is packing with medication.  The packing is usually changed as often as daily.  As the tooth heals the packing will fall out.

recently ive had a bad reaction to acne medication and my scabs have healed but im left with shiny pink skin. ive been covering both areas with petroleum jelly and gauze. now that i have new skin do i leave them uncovered and stop using petroleum?

: New skin growth needs moisture and protection to mature. Keep using the petroleum jelly to avoid long term scars, and keep covered to avoid scratching or other trauma that can disrupt the new skin.
