Leave it out: You can irrigate with 1/4 t salt in 1 cup of water instead if that is possible.

Let's get modern: You are doing an old fashioned treatment as disrupting the wound on a daily basis actually slows down the healing. Modern wound care would be a nice simple dressing such as calcium alginate for example packing it into your wound gently and leaving it there for 2 to 3 days. This allows the wound to establish its own environment and promote healing. Covered with a simple dressing and let nature go.

Leave out: Gauze really serves to keep the wound open so it can heal from the inside out. Unfortunately , each time you pull it out, it tends to pull out some of the healing granulation tissue with it, and if you leave it longer, more tissue will likely attach to it and so be avulsed when you remove it. If the external opening is open enough, may be better leaving it out or using silva sorb gel.

Depends on the wound: It al depends on the size of the defect and the amt of drainage from the wound. Silver sorb gel is probably ok. I use alot of medihoney gel.
