Yes: In the acute setting the swelling that can be induced from the trauma in your wrist may cause enough compression on the median nerve resulting in cts symptoms.  Commonly, people develop cervical injuries from a car accident that can result in cervical compression of the nerve roots (cervical radiculopathy) that can mimic cts. A through exam is important.

Sometimes: Carpal tunnel syndrome pain is caused by a nerve getting constricted as it passes through a narrow boney canal- the carpal tunnel- as the nerve courses into the palm of the hand. The carpal tunnel release operation cuts the tissue on top of the canal to free the nerve. The pain will subside but can recur with inflammation of the nerve.
