Yes, sometimes.: This is one of the most common fungal infections.  Lots of people have it, who don't have HIV. However, if you have symptomatic HIV infection (AIDS), you cannot fight off infection and are far more prone to all infections, whether fungal, bacterial, or viral.  Safe sex, please!  If you don't know if you may have it, get checked for it, and for other sexually transmitted diseases.

You don't have HIV: This test result is over 80% reliable; almost certainly you do not have HIV. Have another test at 4 weeks to be certain. Do not assume oral candidasis if you just have a white tongue; coated tongue and candidasis are not the same. Anyway, it is too soon to have oral candida due to a new HIV infection, and test results always overrule symptoms. See a doctor if your mouth problem continues.

An EGD, G.i. doctor: To get a 'good look' at the esophagus, a gastroenterologist (G.I.) doctor usually takes an 'endoscope'  down the throat & esophagus for pictures and possible biopsy. You are sedated for the procedure (called an e.g.D.). The larynx is more accessible with a small scope through the nose, but this is done by an e.N.T. (ear-nose-throat).  Hope this helps.

3wks ago was prescribed bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) for skin infection few days later itchy rash grows under l breast. is it b/c the medicine? never had this b4 look like cutaneous candidiasis had 3 hiv test all negative

Could be: It is not unsual to develop candida infections after antibiotics treatment especially in areas that remain moist.

what is the recommended dosage of dilucan for oral candidiasis for a patient receiving hemodialysis?

Diflucan (fluconazole)?: 100 mg daily will be adequate. Due to partial renal excretion, which is lacking in dialysis patients, the dose may need to be decreased if used more than 10 days. For instance HIV patients may need long term treatment then interrupted treatment guided by response of candidiasis may be the way to go.

It depends...: Potential options are caspofungin and related drugs, nystatin, and amphoteracin B. But this depends a lot on the particular kind of candidiasis:  different for superficial or body orifice infections (vaginal, anal, mouth) than for advanced (e.g. bloodstream) infections. If you mean "systemic candidiasis", that's an urban myth, not a real illness and doesn't need treatment.

following partial removal of tvt sling, if patient develops invasive recurring candidiasis and bacterial infection around mesh and in bladder, what is the treatment?  must remaining mesh be removed?

Probably: Any time a foreign material (such as a mesh in this case) becomes infected or there is an infection in the area, it is nearly impossible to cure the infection. There is no blood supply to the mesh -- and so you cannot get high enough anti-bacterial (or fungal) doses to that area. Since the sling was removed, maybe a small amount has remained? Sorry.

Very reassuring: I think this is a duplicate question, same answers. Oral candida is not likely (not the same as white coated tongue). But even if candida, it is too soon for it to be from an HIV infection caught only 2 weeks previously, and is never the only sign of ARS. Your test is about 90% conclusive that you don't have HIV. Have another combo test at 4 weeks to be certain, but in meantime really no worries.

Variable: As you know there is no cure for hepatitis B, but it can be mild or very aggressive and that is hard to predict.  HIV is not technically cureable, but good treatment can keep it in control and the prognosis can be very good as long as you take your medicine.
