Depends: This would depend on the amount of pain and the severity of the shin splints.  Some people with shin splints can still run, while others will really struggle to even walk.  I would recommend that you see an orthopedist for evaluation/treatment if your symptoms are really severe.

 if you had this leg fracture related to a “cyst”, I would want to make sure you don’t have sarcoma, or any other type of bone cancer.

Yes: Symptoms of a stress fracture include focal pain with activity that resolves when resting, usually after an increase in training or a change in training schedule/intensity.  The symptoms you describe can also be caused by  a condition called exertional compartment syndrome.  See an orthopaedic surgeon for a more formal evaluation.

Unlikely: The fibula does not bear much weight at all, about one sixth of the amount of the other bone in the leg, the tibia.  As such, it is very uncommon to get a "stress fracture" in the fibula.  A detailed exam and appropriate studies will likely determine the cause of your pain.

yes: It is wise to avoid nsaids like ibuprophen. Listen to your body and limit weight bearing. The walking boot will help. It takes 8 weeks to heal a fracture. Lower stress by visualizing  positive experiences to increase beta endorphins to protect stem cells needed for healing,  get a good night sleep, eat 6 healthy small meals and exercise upper body  6 times a  day for good circulation and nutrition.

Exercise : More likely due to your body responding to unusual exercise. Rest for a day and the pain will probably disappear

i have a navicular stress fracture, should it be cast? does it depend on severity? i have an eating d which caused it- i usually walk 8 hours (cut down to 4). i can't stop walking so a dr said it should be cast to stop me walking or it won't heal???

: When weight-bearing the navicular bone cannot be avoided. Yes this should be cast especially if the fracture in is intra articular. If joint involved there are no options allow to heal or you will have a problem rest of life
