i have been having ingrown toenail since june 2018 and managing the pain by using ointment and cream, i got from the pharmacy. i want to have it removed now?

: Most are trained in the procedure &amp; some enjoy doing it. Some might refer you out to a foot doctor based on their patient load ( it does take extra time). I would call the office staff &amp; see what they suggest.

Ingrown toenail: If the toenail is actually ingrown- you may need minor surgical procedure -so that nail no longer pierces into skin.

i went to the pediatrist and he had to clip my ingrown toenail..he used some antibiotic ointment on my toes but it looked like a used container...can i catch anything from that if it has been used on others too?

: No, there is no risk for infection related to using topical antibiotics from an used tube, follow written and/or verbal recommendations for proper healing.

See  dermatologist: There are several causes for ingrown toenails from improper shoes to skin infections.  Sometimes these nails need surgical narrowing.

IF YOU ARE DIABETIC: doubt the infection in the ingrown toenail will cause systemic infection,or sepsis, or septicemia. 
unless you are diabetic or if you have a severe peripheral vascular disease, and you end up with a bad case of ischemia or gangrene.
either way why you want to wait until it becomes a life threatening infection, start soaking your foot, trim your nail well, see a doctor,take antibiotic,etc...

what are the chances that i have gangrene from getting an ingrown toenail removed? i got them removed about 2 weeks ago, and one isn't healing well

Not that common: By not healing well what do you mean exactly? I highly doubt you have gangrene, but may be an infection that is still there. Also there could be piece of the nail left behind that is causing it not heal well. Gangrene usually happens in people who have some sort of underlying illness with poor circulation. Please follow up with your doctor or a podiatrist for further evaluation.

See a podiatrist: You might make the problem worse trying to dig them out yourself in terms of increased pain or infection.

A podiatrist can give you fast pain relief.  If this is a recurrent issue, there are permanent procedures that keep this from bothering you again in the future.

See your doctor: While some pain is experienced after these procedures, they usually are alleviated with over-the-counter pain relievers, and postoperative care (soaks, dressings). Increased pain might suggest an infection.

can i cut the corner of my ingrown toenail?

See below: Toenail should normally be cut straight across. This will help to avoid ingrown toenails as well as infection. However, if a portion of nail is growing into skin, the ingrown portion of nail can be cut out at corner. If this cannot be done easily or is very bad, see Podiatrist.
