Sciatica=PinchNerve: Just back pain is not usually a "pinched" nerve. A pinched nerve should give you sciaitca which is pain, numbness, weakness down your leg. Mechanical back pain can be muscle spasms, arthritis of you facet joints, or degeneration of your lumbar discs. Either way see you orthopaedic spinal specialist and get started on a phsyical therapy regimen for starters and follow your specialist orders.

Yes, Pinched nerve: The description of the pain does fit a 'pinched lumbar nerve'. A lumbar spine MRI is the best test to check out the possiblility. You should get seen and you may get a prescription for Medrol (methylprednisolone) pack to help with the nerve inflammation.  Warning signs are bladder/bowel changes and/or severe weakness. Lot of possibilities: With hypothyroidism, muscle spasm would be a good first bet, causing pain, and possibly causing associated rib or joint distortion.  Nerve pinch is more likely to have more specific symptoms.  If it is in the flank area, then kidney pain could be involved.  Evaluation to remove variables and localize the problem is advisable.

Arms numb.: three general possibilities or combinations thereof:  carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar tunnel syndrome and cervical radiculopathy (from the neck).  A nerve conduction study will help differentiate these possibilities.

: Am confused about your pain description.  But, a transforaminal epidural steroid injection in the location of nerve compression responsible for cervical radiculopathy can be very palliative, allowing more active rehab steps.  Motorized cervical traction is often useful thereafter.

Various ways.: Usuly will resolve on their own. I would recommend physical therapy along with anti-inflammatory medications. In the event this is a mechanical problem, then surgery may be warranted.
