Hard head: like most folks I have been there with a hard head knock. Getting out of a cab I hit my head when I pulled down the lid. Bled for hours but have survived well many years since.
Relax and keep going with your good grades.

would a hit to the head cause brain cell loss/brain damage? if so, what degree of impact is required to lose the cells? i was swimming hit my head.

Concussion: Any injury to the head causes loss of brain cells, the question is how many - and this is usually proportional to the severity of the head injury. A minor bump to the head usually damages very few (if any) brain cells. If you have symptoms of worsening headache, loss of consciousness, weakness, speech deficit, seizures, drowsiness etc, see a doctor.

i accidentally hit 14 week old son in back of head with my cell phone while nursing. he didnt cry, lose consciousness. is he ok? brain bleed?

Unlikely : Although this may have frightened you I doubt it did much to baby. The back of the heat is thick &amp; more tolerant to trauma in general than most of the body. The lack of personality change/cry is also good evidence that it did not bother the kid. I wouldn't devote any  more worry to this at all.

Variable: There have been studies of rhesus monkeys who have been hit in head with various forces, and you could google this (cute critters who should have been spared this).  It may be less important whether one significant head injury occurs, vrs. Multiple head injuries, post-traumatic repetitive encephalopathy, such as in professional athletes.

Head Trauma: Head trauma is never a good thing. It is important for you to learn better ways to cope (other than self harm).  Consider seeing your physician, a psychologist or a psychiatrist. Take care.

Hit on the head: No, 48 hrs after a hit to your head, you don't really need to worry about brain bleeds any more. Change in vision, nausea/vomiting, dizziness and worsening headache are all things to seek care for if they develop. However, any hit to the head raises concern for mild concussion which can linger.  So, if you have any trouble with sleep, agitation, ongoing headache, fatigue, get some help.
