Without : Without examining you and possibly getting an x-ray, it's difficult to tell what is going on.  However, any cough that lasts more than 2-3 weeks should be evaluated by a doctor.  There are many problems that could be going on - common things being walking pneumonia, bronchitis, allergies or gastroesophageal reflux but less common and more serious causes could be tuberculosis or congestive heart failure.  Evaluating your other pertinent symptoms and listening to your lungs can help deliniate the cause of your cough and hopefully get you the treatment you need to feel better.  Give your doctor a call. Pneumonia: White blood cell counts and differentials are not conducive to establishing a diagnosis, but can be helpful in adding or subtracting to clinical findings. Without knowing what symptoms you are having and without being able to examine you the advice must be limited. You might want to see an infectious disease doctor. Most coughs associated with an upper respiratory infection go away within 1-2 weeks. i just left my pcp who examine my lung function said that everything was perfect no wheezing and other abnormalities.  diagnose with mild pneumonia two weeks ago does this mean my symptoms are getting better?  no cough, fever.

Better lungs?: That is my guess.  Discuss with your dr who is only one that can tell.  We cannot listen to your chest.

two months ago i had a knee arthroscopy and aspirated as i was being extubated. developed aspiration pneumonia.  within a week i started having symmetrical pain in my knees and elbows.  it has not abated and in fact is worsening.no swelling or erythema.

Aspiration pneumonia: It could well be related if you were septic due to the pneumonia, but at this time it purely theoretical.

Evaluation: Rinse nasal passages with saline and keep well hydrated. Monitor for fever and if you have prolonged cough &gt; 3 weeks or chest discomfort, please see a physician. 
Most likely you had a viral illness which is lingering, but will resolve with a little bit more time.
