Candida: Candida or yeast can certainly create these symptoms and presentation.  You can get a prescription from your doctor. In the meantime, cut out all sugar and yeast from your diet, keep the area clean and dry and you will start to feel better.

Could be yeast: try either miconazole or clotrimazole cream to the area twice daily and follow up with your physician.

hi. i have a bad case of jock itch for 8 years. it itches like crazy mainly  if i eat bread or anything sweet. i tried tea tree oil, and applied it directly on it. it burned like hell, but the next day it was gone. now it's back. what do i do?

Stop self treating: Get examined. You will need to stop any oils which will "lock in" any fungal infection. You will need to be examined,placed on both oral antifungal antibiotic and a cream that contains antifungal and cortisone medications. 8 years is a bit absurd...and you now have a chronic skin condition. Consider a dermatology evaluation.

Bump: Could be but could also be molluscum or herpes. Have it checked by your doctor, urologist or dermatologist.

This : This is unlikely shingles since the rash itself has lasted months. Perhaps it is a fungal infection or folliculitis or eczema or psoriasis?  I would recommend you see a dermatologist and get an accurate diagnosis so you can start good treatment to help your symptoms.  It is quite common to have these conditions in that location. I hope that helps a little.

Treat infection: Treat the cause! if an infection, often fungal, most over-the-counter preparations are effective if you are compliant with the regimen for 1-2 weeks. Terbinafine, miconazole, Clotrimazole are common meds used to treat this. A topical steroid such as Hydrocortisone may be used at the same time to treat itching. If not infection related, make sure your clothing is not a cause. Is it too tight, etc.

good morning.  i have had a re-occurring jock itch for almost a year now.  i have tried all kinds of over the counter cream but nothing will clear it up.  it is only on my right side.  it does not get raw or anything but it has become an issue.  is there anything i can be prescribed for this without having to go into a doctor's office?

: Jock itch an infection caused by tinea, a kind of fungus (similar to athlete's foot). It causes red rash in the groin and often on the scrotum. Without visible rash this probably isn't jock itch.

Jock itch: Provided you use the correct medication, the itch and discomfort should start disdappearing within a week or shorter.
Be sure to conitnue applying the cream until the lesions are completely gone. If what you use does not work, it will be better to use a medication prescribed by your doctor.

Tolnaftate: Topical tolnaftate is used to treat skin infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch, and ringworm and  is also used to treat infections of the nails, scalp, palms, and soles of the feet. It is safe. If your itching is due to superficial fungus it may help.
