Yes: On occasion firm area of the breast can develop following breast  reduction  as a  result of poor blood supply to the fatty tissue of the breast.

Accepted Answer

No easy answer: Not sure what you mean by "firm up".  Breast reduction is usually a very satisfying surgery for women that have long been bothered by disproportionately large, heavy and hanging breasts.  It can be difficult to maintain fullness in the upper breast. Occasionally breast implants are indicated either at the same time or later.  
Restoring some of the lost volume may help.

Yes: It is safe, but most believe it best to wait till over 18 to have the surgery.  Definitely wait till they stop growin. Also you must understand the risks of loss of nipple sensation and the ability to lactate is a possibility.

Any : Any smaller size is possible, but the risks and the benefits of the procedure need to be well understood before proceeding. Some parts of the breast reduction are not reversible.

If you planning to..: Tattoo over the incisional scar, wait at least 3 months.

after i have my baby, if i get breast reduction surgery and i decide to have more kids, will it reverse the affect?

Accepted Answer

Wait if you can.: With breast reduction there is also a reshaping that gives the breasts a more youthful shape and position. With additional pregnancies the reduction won't be "reversed" but the long term result would not be as good as if you waited until you are done having kids. Other issues- potentially not being able to nurse, nipple numbness, loss of erectile function, wound complications, hematomas, seromas.

if large breasts run in my family and mine are already very large, can i get a breast reduction surgery, i am 16?

Yes: Although surgeons prefer to wait until all growth is complete, if you have very large breasts and the appropriate symptoms (back pain, bra grooving, etc) reduction may be an option. However, breast reduction in teenagers is associated with a higher incidence of recurrent breast enlargement. That can require another surgery later. It will also probably decrease your ability to breast feed.

i have a 2 inch hard lump under my incision  of a breast reduction surgery 3 wks ago. it has been there the entire time, i was just afraid to touch it?

Suture: You had breast reduction surgery.  The knot from your suture may be what you are feeling.  The body responds to surgery by inflammation.  Over time it goes down.  As long as swelling is not hot or red.  Avoid any creams unless instructed by your surgeon.

Time: Unfortunately, there's not much to do other than wait.  Nerve healing is slow, and it may take 12 - 18 months for them to fully heal.  Fortunately, most people do get their sensation back after this operation.

Not long: My pts  leave the hospital  the same day often w less pain  than they had preop. Waterproof dressings allow for no interruption in showering  but immersion in water is out for a few wks as are shock-inducing sports housework such as sweeping etc holding kicking toddlers&physical employment. Office work can beresumed as soon as pt feels up to it- often with in a day. Go out to eat the evening of!
