i realize i shouldn't jump to conclusions. what are the chances of white lump about pea size,looks like a white head under the skin of my ear lobe being cancer? it hurts to touch. should i see a doctor to get it drained?

small lump in ear lobe. not even bigger than a pea. previously thought it was a pimple but popped it and is now like this. no pain or discomfort. just there, hoping its not cancer?

: Ask as often as you want. Facts do not change. Cancer is at the bottom of the list of possibilities. These are often just small cysts formed from trapped secretions in the glands at the base of hairs that sometimes grow from that site. Get it checked if you wish but I would not loose sleep over it. It may go away on its own.

will visit derm soon but scaly small bump on ear lobe for years. i remove it, it comes  back. same size, no other symptoms. could this be skin cancer?

Bump on ear: Your dermatologist will. E able to examine you and if the lesion appears cancerous, it can be sent for biopsy

: Not a cancer.  This is probably a cyst.  I would leave it alone.  Check with your PCP for possible removal.  I would not put a Q-tip in your ear canal.  There are some kits in your local pharmacy that provide ear canal irrigation.  Some people use water diluted hydrogen peroxide for an ear canal rinse.

my husband has had a cough,fever plugged ears he went to the dr and a chest xray showed 1 mm and 1 11mm nodule in his middle lobe how likely is cancer?

Lung nodule: Lung nodules should not  be taken lightly. He needs to get a CT-Scan/MRI of the chest specifically to look at the nodules. Then he must see a Pulmonologist. This could also very well be benign but only further testing will define this.

swollen painless inguinal lymph nodes and 2 under each ear lobe-stationary for 2 months. cbc-normal. no symptoms.chewing tobacco for a week. cancer?

Swollen Lumph Nodes : Although oral cancer is assocaited with chewing tobacco, one week of use will not result in cancer. The wide separation between the nodes in the neck and the nodes in the groin suggest something else may be pgoing on, ranging from a simple post-viral adenoparhy to something more sinister. If they nodes don't clear on their own, i suggest she consult her doctor for a thorough evaluation.

what happens if you pull a cyst out of your ear lobe?

Cyst: It would have been helpful to see a picture of it. If it was truly a cyst, it may never come back, it may re-occur or the site may get infected. Discuss it with a physician if you are concerned.

Big juicy lobes: This is not a common request and certainly collagen would accomplish a temporary increase in the side of the earlobe but it may feel unnecessarily firm and would not be my first choice. If a patient made this request, i would recommend the use of hyaluronic acid fillers as the initial filler.

what happens if you pop a cyst in your ear lobe? will it damage my ears permanently?

Accepted Answer

Depends: Depends on what kind of cyst it is.  You risk infection and recurrence of the cyst.  Serious damage would not be expected though.  Before you pop it again, have your ENT take a look at it.  Most cysts, if properly removed, won't' come back.  They are also much easier to remove if they haven't been popped or infected in the past. :)
