Mostly: This is a palsy of one side of the face from the swollen facial nerve in its narrow exit canal through the skull.  In most cases it will recover over a six month interval.  A certain percentage will have long term weakness, and a very small group don't  recover much at all.  You should check with your family doctor for this who can direct your care.

Ask your doc: For a true bell's without any ambiguity i generally don't order mris, but your doc may have had a reason for doing so.

Paliatively: Most people recover completely, without treatment in 1 to 2 months. Especially true if you can still partly move your facial muscles. Some people may have permanent muscle weakness or other problems on the affected side of the face but it is rare.   Treatment with corticosteroids is common which helps lower long term side effects.  Also if it is caused by a virus,  Acyclovir is helpful.

OK: Bell's palsy often takes many weeks to resolve. A small percentage of cases will improve but never totally resolve. I don't know of any reason to change the timing of your hair extensions. Just be sure you're getting enough rest.

Bells Palsy: Bells palsy is only a diagnosis of exclusion, not a primary diagnosis especially if its the first time happening. 3 days is still early enough to begin treatment if other pathologies are sufficiently excluded to make idiopathic facial Nerve inflammation and compression the likely diagnosis. The starting Prednisone dose should be at least 60 mg for 3 days followed by taper to be effective. See ENT.

i got bells palsy in december (had a mri)and have healed physically. i still get the terrible pains in the back of the head sometimes. is this normal?

HA post Bells: May be post inflammatory neuralgia, since many times bells palsy is due to inflammation of the 7th nerve (facial nerve).  Otc Motrin or advil (ibuprofen) for a few days may help reduce the inflammation and headache, if not, see your doc.

What's tender?: Most headaches come from muscle and fascia in the head, neck, upper shoulders, and upper back. Regardless of the bells palsy. 7thcranial nerve: Its possibly from the a anesthetic  injection in the area of the Seventh cranial nerve distribution- in which case it will resolve on its own.

i got bells palsy on right side of my face mid march this year and i fully recovered after treatment in less than 1 month. now whenever i get even a minute reaction with my face i get scared. can it recur when i have no family history ?

: A recurrent episode of Bell' s palsy is uncommon but definitely can occur even without a family history of it. I wouldn't obsess about this though. I have seen a fair amount of cases through many years of practice, but never a recurrence.
