can a urinalysis detect cancer/ tumor in a 5 yr old ?

Not necessarily: A urinalysis is simply a scorecard for how the kidneys handle much of the bodies cast off waste. This includes byproducts of metabolism, water to dilute it & may show non-specific markers of other body function. Some tumors will secrete chemicals that would show up if you knew to look for them. In most cases, a routine ua would neither confirm or eliminate it as a possibility.

No: Testing urine for cancer cells as screening of after treatment is not routine. Specific assays are being refined for detection. Finding occult blood or proteins may prompt evaluation but again most often does not lead to cancer diagnosis.

: Cancer is only a possibility among many others for hematuria or blood in urine. Given its life threatening potential ( for cancer), has to be ruled out with the understanding that there are many other, more frequent conditions accounting for blood in urine. i had a urinalysis done and they found blood in my urine. i have no pain when i go to the bathroom. i'm wondering if it could be cancer?

Possibly not : Some young people have blood in the urine that can only be picked up when it is tested. Nonetheless you should see a doctor to make sure you do not have anything more serious.

Epithelial cells do: NOT mean cancer. They are cells from your vaginal or urethral tissues and do not mean anything bad.

however, it would be indicated to see a urologist to treat your prostatitis.

Not at your age : Blood is common or could just be familial hematruia and at any rate is totally harmless . It should be rechecked again for confirmation but don't worry

Cystoscopy is best: If you have bladder symptoms such as blood in the urine(Hematuria) you may need Cystoscopy which is the only way to make a diagnosis of Bladder cancer. There is no simple blood test .Urinalysis is the first test to look for various causes of blood in the urine. This includes UTI also called Cystitis. Please tell us your age as that may help to narrow the possible causes of your Urinary symptoms.

Cancer,AM uri retent: There are many but they should be picked up with US. Discuss with your Dr who knows you best.  See an OBGYN as well.

how common is bladder cancer in 22 year-old females? my urine flow tends to end before i feel empty & when i push for more, only a few drops come out. i did a urinalysis and it was normal. does this seem characteristic of a bladder cancer/tumor?
