i am being treated for mrsa sinus, middle ear & skin infection with oral/topical antibiotics; sulfamethoxazole tmp ds & mupirocin .. what would be the treatment if it is in my blood? & where would i go? are there any oral prescriptions?

: With MRSA bacteremia (bacteria in the blood) you have to be treated with IV antibiotic(s), usually in the hospital first. In certain conditions, the treatment can be done outpatient when antibiotic infusion can be carried out and monitored.

why do i get reoccurring mrsa skin abscesses? i've been getting them on/off for 3 yeara. also,  how long should i take antibiotic when i get an abs.?

The MRSA epidemic: There are some very good websites (this would take up pages of information) on where to find MRSA in your environment and how to clean for it. There is also some evidence that the mucous in your nasal passages may be infected and this is often treated with intra-nasal medications.

hi, after being burnt on my head from a hair colour, i've know been told i have mrsa, i'm a bit worried as i feel i'm getting a cold, i'm on antibiotic et?

Accepted Answer

Don't worry.: If you're on an antibiotic that kills MRSA (usually either Doxycycline or bactrim), you need not worry unless your scalp gets worse instead of better. Colds are caused by viruses, not bacteria.

how can i cure my skin problem when it doesn't really resemble acne? i have had doctors tell me i had staph infections and mrsa on my face but the antibiotics they were giving didn't help. i have bumps on my face with pools of blood under the skin. after

I : I would recommend you see a dermatologist and get this analyzed.  Perhaps you need a different antibiotic or treatment regimen.  It might be a good idea to consider having either a culture performed or maybe a small biopsy if the diagnosis is in doubt in order to rule out other conditions.

Accepted Answer

Go to Doctor: Human bites can be more dangerous than animal bites especially if they break the skin. There are germs in the the mouth that can cause infections that are hard to treat. 
He may need antibiotics and a TDAP. Wash the wound with soap and water and cover with clean dressing. Go to Doctor.

can i use bacitracin topical antibiotic for a cut on my skin while taking accutane?

Accepted Answer

Yes: But Bacitracin has not been shown to be of any value on any kind of wound. In experimental studies, those using vaseline or aquaphor healed the same or better than Bacitracin when used on surgical wounds. Bacithacin is a common sensitizer. A few years ago it was named the allergen of the year. Same for neosporin and triple antibiotic. Wash the cut, then keep it lubricated.

what is the best topical antibiotic for hormonal acne that isn't too harsh on the skin?  i have very dry skin that tends to peel when i use topicals.

Accepted Answer

Using too much of it: If your skin is peeling and red and you are using it every day cut the usage to every second or every third day. Also, there are different vehicles that the active ingredients are in. The most potent are gels. Less so are creams. If you are on prescription drugs ask your doc to write for lower % and also for cream base. Remember, it will get better!

Possibly: If you are taking an antibiotic that is not effective against mrsa, the bacteria will continue causing what ever disease it was causing, i.E sores, abcesses, pneumonia etc..., until the right antibiotic is given.

Accepted Answer

Not usual choice: Drugs used to treat MRSA include Septra ( Bactrim), doxycycline, and vancomycin. Cipro (ciprofloxacin) is not usually used for MRSA infection.

My : My short answer to your question is no, minor lesions need  not be treated.  Continued and misguided use of antibiotics can cause resistance to arise in other organisms in your body.  Some of the lesions that are popping up are likely results of colonizations.

The hibiclens your using is excellent.  It leaves an invisible anti-bacterial coating on the skin to decrease skin colonization numbers.  Continue to do this.  Many docs will try using sulfa and clindamycin...These too commonly fail anyway and are not parts to my regimens.
