Drugs: The side effects of all these drugs are multiple.  No one would treat chronic pain with Norco, (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) Fentanyl and concerta at once especially in someone on cocaine, methamphetamine and morphine.  You need to seek a drug dependency program and a non drug alternative to pain management.  See a doctor who specializes in pain management.

Its your: Doctor's job, but does depend on how much hydrocodone/acetomenophen you are using in 24 hours, and how much pain you have. Problem with vicodin es, is that it blends 7.5 hydro with 750 acetomenophen-- cannot double up because tylenol (acetaminophen) od. Commonly start with 25microgram fentanyl, and see how much breakthrough med is needed.

All different: They have different uses and modes on administration. Hydrocodone and oxycodone are taken by mouth and last about 3-4 hours. Methadone takes several hours to days for its full effect and last a very long tie. Fentanyl is available through a patch or IV and is short acting and extremely potent.

Overdose: If you don't know then do not try this as only bad things will happen including decreased breathing ability, sedation and even death.  Please contact your doctor regarding usage of these medications and only follow their directions.

ive been on 75mg fentanyl patch for over a year with 1-2 10mg hydrocodone for breakthrough pain. im fighting metastatic stage 3c ovarian cancer and also recently diagnosed with ra. it doesnt seem to work as well. am i developing a tolerance?

: Developing opiate tolerance is always possible having other sources for pain that are not responding as well to opiates, inflammatory pain as seen in RA being an example is as well possible. For such pain specific RA directed meds may be needed to control RA along with short courses of steroids and before considering escalating or rotating opiates.

i am currently on ms contin and hydrocodone for a dislocating left and / broken right arm but the pain is not being touched. what other meds should i try to alleviate the pain besides methadone or fentanyl? tried dilaudid, morphine, and most others?

: Am very concerned about your depiction.  Opioids should have been necessitated for only one week, and it appears that you are at sky-high risk for addiction, amongst other problems. ihave a golf ball sized benign tumor, dislocating and broken shoulder and im being prescribed ms contin and hydrocodone but they arent touching the pain. whats the best pain killer out there besides fentanyl that ive already been on?

: Talk to your local doctor. You need a personalized recommendation from someone that has heard your story and reviewed your medical history. All opiates do the same thing, they only differ in dose. So you may need a dose adjustment, or a different class of pain medicine to reduce the pain that you are experiencing.

Strongest opiate: Fentanyl is the strongest followed by dilaudid, Percocet and narco. However, over time every opiate produces tolerance and withdrawals if stopped abruptly.  They are usually never a long term solution for chronic non cancer pain. Fentanyl hsbc a black box warning to be used only for cancer pain in a patch form. It is used IV for intra operative pain during surgery.

Work up?: I hope you have been evaluated for this by a physician with a physical exam, blood tests, urinalysis, ultrasound, and/or CT.  If not, please get seen immediately.   All of the medications you mentioned can cause nausea and constipation, so your attempt at treatment could be making things worse!!

will hydrocodone show up in my drug test? i have a really bad toothache and i want to take a hydrocodone (leftover from my surgery last month). but im supposed to have a drug test at work next week. will i test positive?

Hydrocodone : Hydrocodone is a narcotic and will show up on most drug tests.  However, it is also a legal prescription medication that is used for pain relief.  Speak with your place of work about their policies regarding prescription medications and drug testing.  You may also want to see a dentist as soon as possible for your tooth pain.
