See your DR: Would suggest a DR visit when the bruises are present.
Without a visual exam, it is impossible to give you a correct and accurate DX.

Scabies: Could be scabies but whatever it is i'd recommend getting checked out right away.

Strange: actual bruising would mean there is a hole in the vein.  Seems unlikely at 56 for you just to be bruising with no real pressure unless there is injury or a needlestick.  Do you have very fragile skin and does this happen anywhere else in your body?  Try not to irritate or "follow" this vein, and if you want, apply a warm compress.  Have a doctor check if it doesn't go away.

Bruises: The natural course of a bruise or leakage of blood under the skin starts as reddish discoloration, turns purplish and as the blood breaks down, pigments cause a yellowish color and then clear up. If you bruise too easily, it warrants an evaluation by your physician. Leakage of blood without any trauma would be of concern. Discuss this this issue with your parents.

my son, 36,says the front part of his collarbone on left side feels bruised, it is sore to touch & hurts when he moves his arm in certain ways, there is no swelling,he has not had any injury but he used to lift weights, what is this? is this serious?

: Just avoid the arm position which exacerbates that pain for a couple days, apply cold or warm pack to the pain area +/- ibuprofen OTC as needed in the meantime. It depends on the exact pain location, problem could be from sternoclavicular vs. acromioclavicular joint, not the clavicle by itself if there is no history of injury/trauma. If symptoms get worse, he should be examined by an orthopedist.

See a doctor: If you are having pain that long, you should consider getting checked. If you have a primary doctor, start with that person. Spinal problems might cause this, but so can many other problems. You need a professional to sort this out.

Bruising: Consider connective tissue disorder, anticoagulation from blood thinners, excess vitamin e, vasculitis, dermatitis, varicose veins, or more rare conditions of the dermis such as epidermolysis bullosa.

Meds or fragile skin: Meds like Aspirin or blood thinners ( Coumadin (warfarin) etc) and having rather fragile skin/blood vessels. Some day to day  activities around the house or work can hurt the skin (without breaking it) to cause a bruise.

what to to about lower arms that bruise really easily? my lower arms bruise really easily. i can just bump into something and an awlful bruise appears and takes a long time to go away. what causes this?

Accepted Answer

Typically : Typically that is caused by "actinic purpura" which occurs after age and sun damage thin the skin and cause it to bruise more easily.  There is not easy fix, but i would recommend sunscreens, protective clothing, and do your best to avoid trauma to those areas.  I would recommend you see a dermatologist who can further evaluate you to confirm the diagnosis and be sure that is the correct diagnosis.  I hope that helps.
