Bile is essential for life and made by the liver. Alcohol is a toxic to your life, with little connection to your gallbladder. Don't use alcohol in recovery from surgery or in excess. Be well.

Drink up: There is nothing you cannot eat or drink with gallstones - it is mostly a genetic predisposition to developing them and if they have not caused any problems so far they may never do so.  The only treatment for gallstones is to remove the gallbladder surgically and this is only done if they are causing trouble so drink up!

i can't eat food with a lot of seasonings, or really greasy food, or drink soda without feeling really sick. if i drink water and eat bland foods i feel fine though. people keep telling me its my gallbladder causing problems, is that right?

Need to see doctor: The symptom you have could be several possibilities. Gallbladder just one of them. I recommend you need to see your doctor to get a complete check up.

got to have a hida scan. i know the 1st part is 1hr. but my letter states needs to eat/drink after 1st scan & then another scan for gallbladder. i dont have a gallbladder(removed) so will i need the 2nd part of the test or is this still done anyway?

: It depends on why HIDA scan needs to be done in your case because you already had cholecystectomy. You should discuss with the technologist. If the nuclear tracer has been detected in the biliary tract and intestine in the first part of the test then you likely do not need the second part which is done for checking the gallbladder especially. i have had pancreatitis. i believe i have it again but i am unsure how i got it. i dont drink and i havent had a gallbladder in scene 11/11/13.

Medications plus...: Medications, be it over the counter or prescription can cause pancreatitis. Sometimes the Common Bile Duct, which is the tube that allows bile, (made in the liver), into the duodenum=first part of small intestine, can be clogged up or have a stone it too. Could also be an issue with a pancreatic duct. A repeat Ultrasound would help. Also would check u'r Triglycerides and calcium levels.

It can : It's an indirect effect, but the answer is yes. Liver makes bile Whichvis stored in the gallbladder. Alcohol effects the liver and can affect bile production. Alcohol also effects the pancreas which has a close interplay with the gallbladder too

As tolerated: All food and drink should be in moderation, and as tolerated. Gallbladder pain usually occurs 30-45 min. After ingestion, so if it doesn't cause a problem, go right ahead. Remember moderation! if you think your gallbladder is causing problems, see a general surgeon for a consultation.
