Physical Exam: You need a full history and physical exam. A doctor can listen to your heart and get your vital signs and take a chest x-ray. If you are experiencing strange symptoms, a cardiology consultation and echocardiogram can be performed.

when i was young i smoked weed for few months and swallowed the smoke into my stomach caused gerd. how likely is it i will devolp stomach cancer?

Base line risk: There is insufficient information, however, what you described is not likely raise your risk of getting stomach over the baseline risk you had, had you not used weed.

For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

doctor thinks i have stomach ulcers. i don't smoke, drink, or take nsaids. doc made no mention of h. pylori. should i suggest blood and breath tests? if it's not h. pylori, what else could cause ulcers or is it another issue? is excess acid possible?

: The causes of peptic ulcer (either in the upper small intestine or the stomach) are unknown except Helicobacter pylori. You definitely should raise that possibility with your doctor; if H pylori is the cause, antibiotics are the main treatment. Without HP, acid control is the main plan. Correct that NSAIDs can be responsible, but in other patients there is no known cause.

i worked for a company for fourteen years in a cubicle where the woman next to me smoked. i am 68 now..i dont smoke and never have. that was thirty years ago. should i be concerned about the secondhand smoke that i got that long ago? chest x-rays ok?

: I wouldn't lose sleep about this exposure. Although there is a theoretical increase in risk from the baseline there is little evidence that this creates a measurable risk for non-smokers. Normal lungs have a mechanism for removing debris like smoke particles/dust/pollen/etc. which is overwhelmed by smokers placing them at risk. Discuss this with your doc at your next encounter.

No, but other issues: The vapor in some e-cigs is mostly water vapor, but the propellant is an oil, propylene glycol, and there are often preservatives, stabilizers, flavorings and colorings as well.  None of this stuff has been analyzed, and the companies consider them trade secrets. The FDA has asked for the authority to require the ingredients, so they can be further studied. There are no "tars" which cause cancer.

Probably not: However, you should not be in a situation in which you're forced to tolerate second-hand smoke. This is the 21st century, not the 1950s. It's unhealthy generally and you should make your case on this.

: There are differing methods of testing. One looks only for the detection, called the qualitative test. The other is quantitative, looking for the amount present. Most simple screening tests are looking to detect any amount of a substance. The sensitivity is the ability to detect at a certain level. Highly sensitive tests are more costly to use and may or may not be employed by the testing agency
