No problem: Typically modern epidural steroid injections are given using live X-ray guidance, and so the scoliosis would be no problem.  The older version was done "blind" and so it would be quite difficult in someone with scoliosis.

No: No, this is not typical for back pain and sciatica.  Scoliosis is a curve of the spine itself which has nothing to do with back pain and sciatica.  Sciatica is irritation of the nerve going down the back of the leg.  Back pain can be a source for the sciatica but not scolisis.  You either are born with scoliosis or develop it over time from another problem.

Start w conservative: Start w conservative treatment including physical therapy, epidural injection at the site of the nerve root irritation, and bracing as needed for pain relief. Core strengthening is very important. Surgery may be needed if all else fails. A good physical exam, history, and review of various imaging studies go into deciding what surgery you may need.
