Posture &amp; Lifestyle: A simple answer is yes. Our increasing sedentary lifestyle, looking down at our phones/electronics, and lack of regular exercise are leading to more back problems. Often posture and these factors cause muscular pain, but later could lead to early degenerative changes in the spine and greater problems. Posture alone is not the greatest risk factor, but can contribute to asymmetries and thus pain.

can poor posture cause chest pain? i'm 22. i've had pain in my shoulders and chest. i got a cardiac workup and it was normal. what can i do?

Chest wall pain: There are many things that can cause chest wall pain in a young woman, and (generally) these don't include the heart.  Endometriosis, autoimmune disease, muscle strain, neck injury.... The list goes on.  The timing of the pain, location, quality, associated difficulties, etc will give clues.  Talk to a good internist, and then a pulmonologist if you can't get answers.... Sometimes these are tough.

Weight training: or other forms of resistance training, postural exercises best learned from a physical therapist and also posture taping.

Many ways: The first thing to do is to understand what good posture looks like. There are a number of resources for this but probably the best way to learn to take control of this yourself is to have a few sessions with a physical therapist who can teach you. Postural exercises looking in a mirror can help. One of my favorites is yoga which spends a great deal of time working on alignment.

: Posture can impact  the muscles. Scoliosis is a structural problem of the bones. So the poor posture can lead to pain and spasm of muscles. Seeking muscle work like a good chiropractor or physical therapist of a exercise physiologist  can best assess the real problem.

: I don't see any of these causing weak bladder contractility which can lead to urinary retention. Diabetes &amp; chronic overdistension from prostate enlargement or pelvic floor weakness leading to bladder prolapse in women are common causes. Spinal cord problems are less common causes. Medications like sudafed causes temporary urinary retention, especially in men with prostate enlargement.

is there a muscular disease that restricts your rib cage from expanding? poor posture has caused my rib cage to become restricted by the muscles.

Yes: The simple answer to your question is yes, there are some neuromuscular conditions that can affect they'd led that aid in respiration.  They are all pretty rare, however, and conditions such as reactive airway disease are much more common as a cause of difficulty with breathing.  Thank you.

i have been feeling moderate neck pain and tension  for almost a year now i used to have a gamimg addiction when i was 17 which i stayed up late this probably caused  to poor posture hence causing this i really need good advice on how to fix this ty.

Doctor can evaluate: Depending on what is meant by "neck tightness," there are many possible causes. If talking about tightness in the joints, tendons, and muscles of the neck or upper chest, causes include sprains and strains from sports, accidents, poor posturing, manual work, etc...  A doctor's evaluation and physical therapy helps. Some medical disorders may cause tightness too.

how do you strengthen your diaphragm? i think years of cpu work, poor posture, and anxiety have caused it to flatten and i am not breathing correctly.
