Pain in the neck: Being evaluated by a physical therapist first would be helpful, and they could design a specific exercise regimen for you to do at home after that.

Had bad effect: When left wieghts  over head , you load your spine all togethor especialy the cervical spine , if you have spondloysis tat could make worse.

Yes: At some point in their lives, most patients will develop some degree of degenerative arthritis in their back.  This does not necessarily lead to pain or activity restriction.  So if you are not having trouble with it, I would not worry about it.

can i do weight lifting if i have lumbar spondylosis at 28 from 3 months only? first i was diagnosed with l5 bulge and pt made it spondylosis!:(

Yes: First check w/ your ors before u begin a wt. Lifting program. At your age w/ unilateral spondylolisis i would avoid squats, power cleans and dead lifts.Other exercises ( esp. Upper body)are usually ok. If your surgeon thinks u are at risk for spondyilisthesis or worsening pain i would follow his advice. He knows how signifigant the 'crack ' is in your back, the chances it will heal and progression.

i was recently diagnosed with l5-s1 and c5-c6 spondylosis..i have gained a lot of weight in the last 2 yrs..is it the reason or something else? i'm 28

Accepted Answer

No: Weight gain is mainly due to taking in more calories than you burn off.  If your activity level has decreased because of the problem thus could be part of the cause.   Some medications can also increase appetite.  You may want to discuss this and a weight control program with your doctor.  Excess weight can increase the back/neck problem.

Stretch: There are many causes of low back pain. Spondylosis is basically "wear and tear" or arthritic changes to the spine.  Usually acute back pain will improve over 1-2 weeks with anti-inflammatories, gentle streching, and use of heat/ice. Somethimes physical therapy can help transition you back to exercise if you're still having pain with walking.

Consult specialist: See orthopedic/sports medicine specialist or physiatrist or excellent physical therapist to discuss options for exercises. If possible, take along radiographs or other imaging studies for doc to review.

what can i do in terms of pain management/exercise/diet/treatment for lumbar spondylosis and trochanteric bursitis of the left hip?

Accepted Answer

Back and hip pain: Normal daily activity is generally best for the back pain.  Avoid sudden heavy lifting.  Consider physical therapy for a tailor made exercise program. For the hip bursitis, try OTC ibuprofen of tolerated.  Avoid lying on that side, especially during sleep. Try ice packs to decrease pain and inflammation. Corticosteroid injection into the hip may help if other methods don’t.
