No: There has never been an association between fish oil and swelling of the prostate. Benign swelling of the prostate is hormonalyy controlled.

Fish best: No evidence taking capsules help. Recommendation is to eat fish at least twice a week.

: A brief comment:  several yrs ago, there was an extensive study from the Univ. of Pittsburgh Medical School, finding no significant or substantial cognitive value for Ginkgo Biloba.  So, save your money and do not search for "miracles" from Dr. Google!

hello, i have nutrilite heart health omega-3 supplement, but it says to take 3 softgels per day before meals. can i take all three softgels at once?

You Like Fish Burps?: Better to split them up. Better absorbed with food. If you don't eat three meals a day then take two with one meal and one with another. but in this case food will help. Or, take the third with a healthy snack. Taking all three at once won't hurt but you want to get your money's worth, right? Also, if you eat some salmon that day, you can skip the supplement. The "real" thing is always better

Better to not: Oils go rancid and then are not good to consume. Even products that haven't reached an expiration date can go bad if not stored in cool dark conditions.

Sea vegetables: Foods such as seaweed and kelp are rich in omega-3s found in fish. Foods such as chia seeds and flax seeds contain other omega-3s.

Poor conversion: Check out http://health.usnews.com/health-news/diet-fitness/articles/2009/04/08/fish-oil-supplements-epa-dha-and-ala-does-your-omega-3-source-matter. Bottom line, ALA needs to be converted into EPA &amp; DHA. Unfortunately, humans are very inefficient at doing so, such that it's more efficient to eat fish. You're 21?: Don't take supplements. If you don't like fish, at least try to avoid red meat. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, nuts, olive oil, a little wine, some chocolate, coffee, and tea you'll get lots of good anti-oxidants plus tasty foods to enjoy!
