i have found out i got nerve pain but i am still waiting for an mri to see what's causing the pain have u got and advice for me how to ease the pain?

Vague: I would consult the dr. That ordered your mri.  Can't just start prescribing meds without hopefully determining a source of your problem.  You might try warm water aerobics/baths/etc. Or stretching, but hard to make any educated advice without even knowing where the nerve pain is located.

Spine evaluation: It sounds like you had imaging ordered by a specialist. I encourage you to follow up with a specialist in spine surgery for a full history and physical exam. Your physician will evaluate the spinal imaging you had performed and also evaluate you for conditions such as spinal stenosis and possible problems with cerebrospinal fluid circulation and your headaches and neurological symptoms. Meralgia Paresthetic: This could be Meralgia Paresthetica - which is a benign neuropathy of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve.  This would not  be diagnosed  by an MRI. I am not  sure the know is related  and could be a benign lipoma. Your physician can confirm the Meralgia Paresthetica or have  you see a neurologist.

Nerve blocks: If the pattern of the pain can be isolated to a specific nerve distribution then an injection blocking the nerve can be both diagnostic and therapeutic.  There are meds that can also help with nerve pain.  Seek out a pain management specialist since your scans are normal.  All this means is that there is not necessarily anything fixable or that may improve with surgery.

have recently been in a rta, since then my leg has become very weak and suffering from severe nerve pain down outer thigh. mri rules out spine. help?

Recommend EMG/NCS: Recommend you see a nerve/spine specialist (usually a neurologist or physiatrist) that does a lot of nerve conductions studies or is board certified in EMG to rule out any nerve entrapment or injury.  If the MRI rules out your spine as a source then a nerve injury might need to be evaluated.

mri says postero central and paracentral disc protusion at l5 s1 nerve pain left^right is surgery required although after rest less pain and relief.

No surgery: If pain is better with rest or meds then no surgery is indicated. Watch out for urinary or bowel incontinence, leg weakness  and numbness around anal aperture, coz that would be serious such as cord compression.

have had leg nerve pain, got mri, showed mild arthritis in facet joints. what are they?

See below: The facet joints are cartilage covered joints that link one vertebrae with another. They guide the motion of the spine. With age they do get more arthritic but do not always cause pain. Pain from facet joints is usually achy and can certainly radiate down into the leg. Usually the pain from facet joints goes into the buttocks, back of the thigh and sometimes to the upper calf. Worse with standing.
