Urology referral: Make sure f/u urine analysis with c/s is entirely nl. If more than 3 infections in past year you need to f/u with urology for evaluation to r/o stricture, other causes. In meantime void after sex, cranberry juice daily. Should not impact on sex drive directly.

i continue to have reoccurring uti's that turn into kidney infections so fast...i drink no soda..but i'm a sweet tea addict. i don't know what to do.

Kidney stones: There is generally an answer to explain redurrent utis.  Have it checked out.   Because you spoke of teas, there are products in teas that might increase stone or "gravel" formation.  This in turn can predispose one to a uti.

ive been getting recurrent kidney infections. my blood tests seem to be normal except my creatinine is elevated at 95 (44-80 ref r) for the past 6 months. i am underweight & dont take any suppl. is this significant and how can i lower it?

: If you are underweight, your serum creatinine is significantly abnormal (normal result should be on the low side of that range for an underweight person). You probably has had kidney infection in both kidneys in the past because a young person needs only one perfectly functioning kidney to have a normal creatinine. Nothing you can do except avoiding future infection and control BP when it is high.

?Symtoms?test result: Urine cultures confirm urinary tract infections. Flank pain or tenderness, fever, chills, high white blood cell count or dark blood in urine would all suggest kidney infection. DMSA nuclear kidney scan or CT with contrast can demonstrate kidney involvement. Believe hospital provided u didn&#x27;t have symtoms &amp; tests were done.Clinic may have found a UTI &amp; suspected kidney &amp; hence you went to the hosp.

i've a very bad kidney infection, because it's a bank holiday here in ireland the doctor isn't open , what can i do or take?

Pyelonephritis: If you are sure that this is an upper UTI (involving structures above the bladder) you need to be seen ASAP by a doctor. Do not know much about ERs in Ireland, but if available would go there. Or perhaps an urgent care facility. You need to be evaluated, cultured and treated. This is a potentially very serious condition. Do not ignore it.  Best wishes.

Go to doctor: Sometimes, it is your mind feeling guilty and you feel that not taking all the antibiotics is causing the problem, or you may have a problem no associated with the infection. Uti are actually easy to treat and we usually over treat. Go to your doctor to see if infection gone, and have peace of mind. If the problem persists, then the cause is something else and has to be diagnosed.

: Kidney infections are marked by fever and chills  and are uncommon, while Bladder infections are common and recurrent. Your primary can do a Urine C&amp;S and treat you accordingly. You should drink plenty of water, empty your bladder when you get the urge, avoid constipation, keep the vulvo-vag. area clean empty bladder after sex and try cranberry juice. Good luck.

Cannot diagnose: Without a full history and physical exam would have no way to determine what your pain is due to.  If you are dissatisfied with your doctor's explanation ask for referral for second opinion.  Hope you are better soon.

Homeopathy: If your bladder infection is early, you can try cranberry juice--in relatively large quantities (about 1 qt/day). Theory is this changes urine's ph and kills the bacteria. (if you hate cranberry juice--or even if not--you can try getting a small frozen concentrate container and eating it as is, like an italian ice. May work, or slow progress. Try health dept for free/low cost medical clinic info.

Suitable antibiotics: U need 2c doctor who will send urine culture to identify bacteria causing infection ; which antibiotic will be effective to kill the bacteria. In mean time start u on a broad spectrum antibiotic like Cipro (ciprofloxacin) or Bactrim for 2 weeks whilst awaiting urine culture result ; chnage antibiotic if necessary. Macrodantin shouldn't be used (poor tissue penetration). Drink lots of water ; get lots of rest.
